Moleskine Journal, Loving It!

Filed under: Just Making Kwento, Some Kind of Art // riz @ 5:35 pm

I’ve always wanted one. And I would have gotten it earlier if I wasn’t too lazy to go to the bank to deposit my payment. Bud could have gotten me one from a US supplier and at a cheaper price too (less than $10 + shipping), but I couldn’t wait any longer. Besides, why look far when we have our very own local Moleskine distributor in the Philippines anyway? ;)

Hence, after exchanging a few emails, and paying BPI a visit (which is just across the street from our office), my very first Moleskine Journal was delivered right to my desk last Friday — the very next day after my bank transaction — much thanks to the guys over at Moleskineph.com.

My first ever moleskine journal

Mababaw lang ang kaligayahan ko. A classic plain moleskine journal (the one “without boundaries”) was all I wanted, something to scribble my thoughts with anytime, preferably something small and handy which I can carry around with anywhere.

Yep, all for the price of 900 pesos — a bit expensive, but worth it, definitely.

I love its simplicity, and now, call it cheesy (or geeky, whatever), the thought that I’m writing on the pages of a “legendary” notebook which Hemingway and Picasso used to own adds up to the excitement of owning one. And the thought that artists from all over the world are writing on their own moleskines makes me feel like I’m one of them. Sheesh, their marketing tactic is really working for me, huh? Hehe.

So my first page reads,

Let’s see if there really is a difference between tapping the keys of my laptop to blog (or clickclacking on my mobile phone to twit), and scribbling on the pages of moleskine to chronicle my thoughts the old fashioned way.

I guess one thing’s pretty obvious — this is raw. No backspaces, no restarts, no escapes, no cancels. Instead of composing my thoughts to form coherent sentences, I let my thoughts compose ME and take me wherever they want to go.

I owe this adventure to myself. Let’s see where these pages will take me.

And I couldn’t stop scribbling thereforth.

While listening to a sermon in church

As a classic moleskine journal (the plain one) gets 192 fresh leaves, I have more pages to fill. You might also want to get one for yourself. You know where to go. :)

I got the “sketchbook” type kasi. The pages are more thick and can stand watercolor. :)

oh yay Moleskin! I recall how you raved about that thing from a previous blog you wrote. Finally you have it! (pero ang mahal kamusta naman yan :p)

Why ask God to take away “the butterflies”? Sydney’s a few more months away, just hang in there. :) But I must agree, it is draining (sometimes)hahaha.

Your handwriting is gorgeous! I want a moleskin journal too, but I’ll probably get the one with lined paper. *is OC like that*

Yay. My handwriting is messy. I guess I prefer the messy look — makes it look more abstract. (Then again, maybe I just found my messy handwriting an excuse haha.)

I have a Moleskine journal here too (won it from PinoyCentric, so it’s free! Yay!), but I haven’t written anything on it yet because I haven’t finished with my last journal. I so want to write on it though. But just a few more pages before I can! That is, if I start writing on the journal again. I should.

I’m also planning to skip the entire Starbucks planner thing (I haven’t touched my 2007 planner in months. Oops. ^^) and just get myself a Moleskine journal, which is a lot cheaper than buying all those coffee to get the stickers. Unless of course, next year’s planner looks good. :P

Free?! Man! Still the best things in life are free. Hehe. I cant wait to see the Starbucks planner too so I know if I should pursue it or not. I wasn’t able to use my last year’s SB planner AT ALL. Haha. All those drinks for nothing!!

I used to write in a journal. Now I’m too scared to read what I’ve written. Come to think of it - I think I lost that journal already. Oh dear. I wonder who have read it. Eep! :P Ang ganda talaga ng sulat mo…!! :)

Was doing some research on quality journals, stumbled here. :D (Wala pa-comment lang XD) I received mine last Friday only started writing now (grabe 4:25 AM! Haha!). Inggit ako sa handwriting mo Ate, I already tore six pages kasi di “presentable” sulat ko. Nako napaka-OC haha!
